The School of Education (SOE) at Holy Family University is partnered with Alpha House to provide direct and consultative services through educational programs for faculty and students at both the preschool and kindergarten.

The SOE has provided staff in-service trainings on a bi-monthly basis at Alpha House based on their requests and needs along with individual student and teacher consultations. In addition to the in-service trainings, the SOE has also provided direct and indirect consultative assessment services conducted by licensed and or/trained faculty members including but not limited to functional behavior assessment with behavior plan development, developmental assessment and curriculum assessment.

The SOE also works closely with Alpha House staff to provide field experiences for our graduate and undergraduate students from initial observations to student teaching and practicum placements.

Alpha House Wishes You a Blessed Christmas

Published: December 6, 2018

Dear Alpha House Families and Friends,

On behalf of the teachers and staff at Alpha House I would like to wish you a Blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, joy and hope.

As we watch the wonder of  Christmas through the eyes of your children, we are reminded of how truly magical it can be. Each day we strive to bring the true meaning of this season of miracles to the students through song, stories, prayers and special moments. As you can imagine the excitement is building every day!

As I reflect on this time myself, I am reminded of the Charlie Brown Christmas Movie.   Charlie Brown spends the movie looking for the true meaning of Christmas. He questions what it is all about, not sure that he really gets it.

In the end Linus stands on the stage, blanket in hand and says, “I can tell you what Christmas is all about.” “And there were in the same country Shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were afraid. And the angel said to them, fear not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord”

He turns to Charlie Brown and says, “That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”

We must never forget that Christmas is about a baby born thousands of years ago who changed the course of history. Let us all strive to keep his message of love, peace and hope alive each day.

May this holiday fill your homes and your hearts with love.

Merry Christmas,

Mary Becker and the Teachers and Staff of Alpha House

Published: March 9, 2017

Alpha House Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten will begin an expansion project in the spring semester to renovate Aquinas Hall, providing increased opportunities for students while offering more room to learn and grow on Holy Family University’s campus.

According to Mary Becker, Alpha House Director, the plan is to continue to use the current building for the Nursery and Pre-K, while the Kindergarten would move to the new location adjacent to where Alpha House is currently located. Alpha House is estimating a 25 percent enrollment increase over the next two to three years with the additional spaced provided by Aquinas Hall.
